It can sometimes feel like in order to be the healthiest version of ourselves we are looking down the barrel of one whopping big task. In order to accomplish this it can seem like we will have to: Sacrifice our social lives, Spend all of our money and dedicate more time than we have to learning the exact nutrient content of every fruit and veggie and what they are good for.
Well this was the kind of barrel I caught myself looking down years ago. After a bit of research and following some really amazing wellness proffesionals I came up with this: So you have to get up at exactly 6.15, meditate for 1/2 an hour, take a shot of apple cider vinegar, do yoga on a beach, make a green juice, go for a run, soak just the right amount of lentils for your lunchtime salad, do some sun salutations, journal?. Where is the catch up with friends spontaneously, going away for the weekend, doing the washing and well, work?
While I love doing all of these and see value in them the reality is we all have our own big picture and committing to doing all of these amazing things for our bodies all of the time is massive. It is easy to get caught up and believe you need to be juggling it all to get the maximum health benefits.
So considering the options these few years ago I decided to break it down and this is what I came up with…
My five simple rules to a healthier life.
- Eat more whole, organic fruit and vegetables
- Drink more water
- Exercise and spend time outdoors daily
- Carve out a spiritual practice / relaxing time / chill time (whatever you want to call it) This can be journalling, meditating, yoga, swimming, whatever resinates with you.
- Get more sleep
Thats it. Easy. The beauty of these is after you have mastered these things (with no sacrifice to social life, no more money spent, no more time spent) Building on these becomes a natural progression. You will feel better, your head will be clearer and naturally healthier choices with flow from you. You will chose practices like adding in a beautiful morning routine, dry body brushing, super greens and other lovely health giving things that easily slot into a already chockas day.
How do you blend your health priorities into your lifestyle?
