BREAKY OF THE FUTURE

Early this morning, driving home from a swim and listening to the radio, people were calling in with morning time saving techniques. For example one guys housemate used to sprinkle Nescafe instant coffee on his bowl of Weetiesto get coffee and
cereal all in one, another girl had a friend from work who would drop two whole eggs into his full kettle, boil it and use the left over water to make a cuppa. While these funny little habits are  hilarious to hear about  it really got me thinking, for the everyday jo blow who needs a quick breaky as they roll out the door to work what is there on offer?
In the past we’ve had Up and go’s, breakfast “bars” high protein, low fat, low GI, sugar free sustenance bars, the good old stop at a cafe and pick up a 10 second egg and bacon roll, instant oats, the drive through coffee shop, we’ve had it all, and still do.
But for me, if its time saving your after, you just cant go past a good smoothie, whatever your preference, whether it be choco, green, berry, caramel, chunky or smooth there is one out there for everyone. And the best part: its as fast as boiling some eggs in a kettle and making tea with the water (whatever floats your boat) Simply pour in some liquid, add a few veges, maybe some super food powders and spices, whiz, pour into a glass, rinse blender and… DONE.
Such a great way to get your greens first thing in the morning while make them tasty!
Here’s what I put in mine this morning:
1 cup coconut water
1 cm piece ginger
Juice of 1 lemon
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon maca powder
1 tbs chia seed
1/2 cucumber
1 carrot
1 stalk celery
1 handful spinach
Here is a great info graphic as a guide to a delicious smoothie:

Do you drink green smoothies? If so what do you put in yours? Leave a message in the “Ask me anything box”. I would love to hear from you.
